TO: Members of Temple Sinai
FROM: Rabbi Leo R. Wolkow
SUBJECT: Israel Trip
First of all, let me thank you for your many cards, calls, charitable contributions, etc., expressing concern for my well being. I am, as you well know, a believer in the positive power of prayer as a healing agent and my healing has proceeded at an exceptional pace.
Currently, with the help of a week at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, attached by tunnel and faculty to the site of my surgery, Northwestern University Hospital, and my outpatient rehab visits to nearby South Suburban Hospital I am making continued progress toward total rehabilitation. Now that I have had my scheduled visit with the surgeon, I have been given permission to drive and a date to return to the tennis court (hopefully August 1)
And now to the business at hand: Through the offices of Ayelet Travel, official travel agent for the CCAR and the UAHC, I have been able to secure a most nominally priced tour to Israel. Moreover, we are trying to have as our guide my classmate and friend, Walter Zanger (HUC-JIR 1962) who has the reputation of being one of Israel's most learned tour guides. In the South (of the US) he is well known for his broadcasts on A&E. In addition, though the tour is set to bring us home in time for Purim, Ayelet will gladly extend the travel arrangements and book additional time and trips (Petra, Jordan, the Nile) as you might individually wish.
To take advantage of this opportunity we need 12-14 participants (who may or may not be members of Temple Sinai). And, to make the trip a reality, we need these commitments in the form of a $250. check per person by September 15, 2000. Don't hesitate to call me with any questions. Membership in Temple Sinai is not a pre-requisite.
P.S. My experience with such tours is that it is to your advantage (in
case of illness, accident etc.) to take out insurance upon registering.
Please check with Ayelet directly.
